Pendleton Island Cabin Removal
Take part in the Great Fundy Coastal Cleanup on Pendleton Island.
August 17, 2024Ferry Ramp, Deer Island, NB
Are you looking for an opportunity to help care for nature? Join us in restoring a natural habitat at the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Pendleton Island Nature Reserve.
Just off the northern tip of Deer Island in Passamaquoddy Bay lies a stunning and undeveloped island. The Pendleton Island Nature Reserve is mostly forested, with several sandy beaches and rocky shorelines.
At this day-long event, we will remove the remnants of an old hunting cabin from the forest. We will work as a team to carry lumber and other debris from the site to the shore, approximately 250 metres along a coastal trail. A boat will then transport the debris to a dumpster on the nearby Deer Island.
Participants must be capable of lifting and carrying multiple loads of heavy debris over a rough terrain.
