Napanee Plain Alvar
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Participants will spend the day on the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Napanee Plain Alvar Nature Reserve cutting small eastern red-cedar trees and manually pulling smaller seedlings that are crowding out this open habitat. Participants can even select one eastern red-cedar to cut and take home as their Christmas tree! Once we are finished, we will use the branches from these shrubs to make festive wreaths. Physical activity will include hiking 1,200 metres over uneven terrain, and bending, lopping, sawing, pulling, hauling and carrying motions.
