Janelle Wyman joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in March 2022 as the chief strategic operations officer. Janelle provides leadership and support in delivering NCC’s land securement, stewardship and visitor and volunteer management programs across Canada.
Prior to joining NCC, she had a unique background with 20 years of experience in both private and public sector focusing on land management, strategic and community planning, corporate management systems and stakeholder engagement. Janelle started her career with several years dedicated to First Nation and Métis consultation with the Government of Alberta. Shas also held senior management roles with Alberta Parks, leading teams undertaking business planning and risk management, as well as establishing provincial policies, operating procedures and standards to support regional service delivery in several program areas including visitor management, volunteer management, partnerships and environmental education. Most recently she served as the Manager of Park Operations for the City of Victoria leading ongoing maintenance and preservation of Victoria's parks network.
Janelle's private sector experience includes five years with ATCO Electric in various regulatory and corporate service roles including serving as the Director of Health and Safety, Environment and Indigenous Relations. She has also supported various levels of government across the country in community and regional planning during her time in consulting.
Outside of work, Janelle enjoys spending as much time as she can in nature with her family hiking, kayaking and gardening on beautiful Vancouver Island.
