Avery Bartels

Avery has been passionate about nature since a young age. In recent years he has made conservation a priority working for several NGOs including Fundacion Proaves (Colombia), Bird Studies Canada and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. His work as a biologist and bird bander has taken him across Canada as well as Mexico and Colombia. During the boreal winters he guides birding tours across the Andes and the northern coast of Colombia.

Avery currently resides in Nova Scotia but will be returning as bander-in-charge to the Tatlayoko Lake Bird Observatory once again this fall.
