I have been interested in nature all my life, and that’s a long time — 80 years. In that time my interests have varied from birds, plants, butterflies to germinating native plants and growing them to switching my Kentucky blue grass lawn to a Buffalo grass and 20-some native flowers in this lawn. Then back to birds since digital photography makes it possible to take all the photos you want. This way you are bound to get a nice photo once in a while. As happened with the green-backed heron.
Prior to retiring, I worked as a police officer with the Regina Police for 25 years and I was in what they now call the forensic department. Let me tell you hunting birds and photographing them is a whole lot more interesting than taking mug shots.
