A legacy of hope

As Nancy strolls along the familiar path beside the Moira River, the crisp morning air fills with birdsong, and she feels a profound sense of peace. Her dog, Kingsley, trots happily beside her, his tail wagging in rhythm with their steps. This park is a sanctuary for them both — a place of solace, joy, and connection.

A few years ago, Nancy made a donation to help conserve the area north of Belleville, Ontario, where the Moira River joins two other waterways. She feels proud knowing her support helps keep this area healthy and thriving.

Nancy is a member of the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Nature Legacy Society. Leaving a gift to NCC in her Will is her way of giving back to the land that has given her so much. “The Nature Conservancy of Canada is my favourite charity,” she says. “I like the idea of securing vital land in perpetuity and partnering with landowners.”

“I may not change the world,” Nancy muses, “but this gift helps protect these special places and supports the research and conservation efforts that ensure nature’s resilience.”

Nancy smiles, watching Kingsley sniff eagerly at the riverside grass. Together, they are part of something bigger, something enduring.
