Protect Habitats
For millennia, habitats across Canada have been caring for us in more ways than we can imagine. From filtering water to cleaning the air to cycling nutrients and providing sustenance for life, they are much more than beautiful landscapes. Ensuring their resilient future is vital to the health and well-being of life on Earth. By working together, we can ensure these remarkable ecosystems continue to thrive for generations to come. Find out how you can contribute to conserving and caring for the habitats that sustain us.
Grasslands

Spanning Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba, Canada’s Prairie grasslands are one of the world’s most endangered ecosystems. Over 80 per cent have already been lost, and what remains is at risk of disappearing forever.
Your support for the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Prairie Grasslands Action Plan will help conserve more than 500,000 hectares by 2030 — an area six times the size of Calgary. Protecting these grasslands means safeguarding a natural powerhouse that helps protect communities from flooding and drought, and helps purify our air and water.
Prairie grasslands are vital to not only people, they also provide critical habitat for countless species that call these landscapes home.

Forests

Forests across Canada are powerfully and intimately connected with life on Earth. Our country is home to some of the world's most intact forest habitats. But they are under increasing threat from unnaturally large, hot and frequent wildfires, invasive species and rapid development.
But there is hope. Together, we have an incredible chance to safeguard both forests and the well-being of our planet.
Your gift will advance work to protect and care for lands in the eight forest regions across Canada, and help to conserve an additional one million hectares of nature by 2030.
