Terry Galloway

Terry Galloway is a retired professor of veterinary and wildlife entomology, and worked in the Department of Entomology in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba from 1977 to 2013. During that time, his research and teaching involved biting flies and their impact on behaviour and performance of domestic animals, ecology of ectoparasites affecting wildlife, including fleas, lice, ticks and parasitic mites, biological control of livestock pests, forensic entomology and aquatic entomology.

Research interests in retirement include the continuation of a survey of ectoparasites infesting wildlife in Manitoba, a project which began in 1993. He is a member of the Biological Survey of Canada, and served on its Board of Directors from 2009-2013 and from 2019 to the present. He served on the Manitoba Endangered Species Advisory Board from 2003 to 2013, and the Endangered Species and Ecosystem Advisory Committee from 2013 to 2018. Terry has been on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Nature Conservancy of Canada since 2001 and as a Regional Board member since 2015. He is the editor of the Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Manitoba (2001 to present), serves on the Editorial Board of the Biological Survey of Canada, Canadian Journal of Arthropod Identification (2005 to present) and is the academic editor for Siphonaptera for Zookeys (2009 to present).

For relaxation, Terry plays traditional Irish music on the penny whistle and is a member of the Flatland Ceili Band.
