Dave Ireland is the new program director for the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in Nova Scotia.

In this role, Dave will support a team who are dedicated to protecting biodiversity in the province and building strong partnerships with communities, government and non-government organizations, and the Mi’kmaw Nation.

Prior to joining NCC, he spent five years studying and 20 years working in the environmental sector. He is a science communicator, naturalist, project manager and leader. Dave believes community, cultural heritage and Indigenous ways of knowing are fundamental to true biodiversity conservation and land management.

Dave lives in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and enjoys surfing by himself and hiking with his wife.
