Pat Nussey is the Atlantic region manager of conservation science and planning for the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).

Pat grew up in rural New Brunswick, where he developed his keen appreciation for nature and the outdoors. After completing his undergraduate degree in zoology, he spent the next several years travelling the world and contributing to conservation projects in Australia and Guatemala.

His travels inspired him to continue working in conservation closer to home and to obtain a master's of environmental management. This ultimately led to joining NCC in September 2013. He has worked in the field of conservation for roughly 10 years.

NCC: What are you hoping to achieve through your work at NCC?

Pat Nussey (PN): To contribute to the conservation of species and the habitats that sustain them.

NCC: What are your hobbies/interests outside work?

PN: Camping, hiking, canoeing, music, guitar, Brazilian jui jitsu.

NCC: What is your favourite Nova Scotian species?

PN: Canada lynx.

NCC: What’s your favourite part of Nova Scotia?

PN: The Cape Breton Highlands and the white sand beaches of the South Shore.
