Stroll the scenic landscapes — from grasslands bursting with wildflowers, to canopies of trees and rolling sand dunes — at this Sasktachewan gem
As you lace up your shoes and hike the trail at the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Asquith property in central Saskatchewan, you’ll want to have your camera handy, as the trail offers many great photo opportunities. Native grasses and wildflowers abound, and there’s a good chance you could see a wide diversity of birds and other wildlife.
NCC’s Asquith conservation area is a 543-hectare mosaic of native prairie grasslands and wetlands. This area also contributes to an important wildlife habitat corridor in the Saskatoon Prairie Natural Area. Thanks to support from the Saskatoon Nature Society, the Asquith property offers a well-marked, mowed trail complete with interpretive signs. The trail is ideal for those keen on a leisurely stroll, with the chance to see the area’s striking bird life and plants up close.
