The Nature Conservancy of Canada's staff, board members and volunteers are all passionate about our mission to protect the best of Canada's natural legacy. We work in every province in Canada. We have seven Regional offices, which are supported by our National office.
Senior Staff
Catherine Grenier
Catherine Grenier joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) as its president and CEO on September 28, 2020. Prior to joining NCC, Grenier served as vice president for national parks operations with Sépaq.
Aaron Bilyea
Aaron Bilyea is the chief marketing officer at the Nature Conservancy of Canada, responsible for marketing programs, brand management, direct response fundraising, events and corporate sponsorships.
Leslie Cooke-Bithrey
Leslie Cooke-Bithrey joined NCC in 2023 as chief people officer, where she is responsible for developing and executing human resource programs in support of overall business objectives and organizational strategy, while fostering a collaborative-based, high-performance culture.
Geoff Hogan
Geoff Hogan joined NCC in 2019 as chief information officer and is responsible for information systems, system security and data governance.
Scott Jones
Scott Jones joined NCC in summer 2021. As vice president of operations, he provides oversight and strategic leadership to NCC’s regional teams, as well as the delivery of NCC’s programs across Canada.
Annie Lam
Annie Lam joined NCC as chief financial officer in August 2023. She is at the helm of NCC’s financial system, which meets a variety of reporting needs and manages the organization’s growing portfolio country-wide.
Craig Losos
Craig Losos joined NCC in fall 2021 to lead the new Nature + Climate Projects Accelerator team. This team will leverage innovative finance tools toward furthering NCC’s core conservation mission. Craig’s previous experience includes time in the private sector and government across British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.
Stephen McCullough
Stephen McCullough is the Nature Conservancy of Canada's vice-president, strategic marketing and development. His focuses are on creating opportunities for all Canadians to support and engage with NCC in protecting nature for a thriving future.
Lisa McLaughlin
Lisa McLaughlin is responsible for ensuring that NCC's land, acquisition and management activities are guided by strategic priorities informed by the best-available information.
Deborah Papernick
Deborah Papernick is responsible for delivering efficient and effective finance, administration, information management and technology, human resources, legal, insurance and risk management services in support of national and regional leadership teams across Canada.
Michael Paskewitz
Michael Paskewitz is the chief of staff and corporate secretary in the Office of the President and CEO at the Nature Conservancy of Canada. He brings 15 years’ experience in non-profit management, public affairs, governance, organizational culture and communications, and a passion to make Canada a world leader in nature conservation.
Brian Rosevear
Brian Rosevear joined NCC in summer 2023 as its vice-president of public affairs and communications.
Marie-Michèle Rousseau-Clair
Marie-Michèle Rousseau-Clair joined NCC in 2007. She started as a regional stewardship assistant to help with the development of a conservation plan and has since held several positions leading to her current role as chief conservation officer.
Janelle Wyman
Janelle Wyman joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada in March 2022 as the Chief Strategic Operations Officer. Janelle provides leadership and support in delivering NCC’s land securement, stewardship and visitor and volunteer management programs across Canada.
Claire Ducharme
Claire Ducharme joined NCC as regional vice-president in September 2022.
Dana Kleniewski
Dana Kleniewski became the regional vice-president for Ontario in May 2024 and has worked with NCC since 2004, in a variety of fundraising and communications roles.
Andrea Laughren
Andrea Laughren joined NCC as regional vice-president for Saskatchewan in March 2025. She brings over 25 years of leadership experience across non-profit, charitable, public, and for-profit sectors, including having recently served as CEO of Meewasin Valley Authority.
Tom Lynch-Staunton
Tom Lynch-Staunton joined NCC in September 2020 as its regional vice-president in Alberta. Tom has held senior roles with the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, and most recently, with Alberta Beef Producers as head of government relations and policy.
Nancy Newhouse
Nancy Newhouse has worked with NCC since 2009. She began with NCC as the Canadian Rockies program director and is currently BC’s regional vice-president.
Françoise Roy
Françoise Roy is the regional vice-president for the Atlantic region. With over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, fundraising, advocacy and stakeholder engagement, Françoise has a proven track record of leadership in the non-profit, public and private sectors.
Kevin Teneycke
Kevin Teneycke holds the position of regional vice-president for NCC in Manitoba. He has overseen the delivery of NCC conservation programming in Manitoba since 2008.
Officers of the Board of Directors
Rob Prosper — Chair, Ontario
Rob Prosper spent 38 years with Parks Canada, helping create new national parks and marine areas. He’s a strong advocate for Indigenous reconciliation and has shaped conservation policy at home and abroad.
Bruce Cooper — Vice Chair, Ontario
Bruce Cooper is a dedicated nonprofit leader, serving on boards including TRIUMF Innovations and the Canadian Museum of Nature. He brings years of governance experience from both conservation and research organizations.
Janice Wattis — Past Chair, British Columbia
Janice Wattis, NCC’s Board Chair since 2023, is a retired lawyer and corporate executive with three decades in energy and resource sectors. She’s a long-time NCC volunteer who loves the outdoors.
Catherine Grenier — President & CEO, Quebec
Catherine Grenier became NCC’s President and CEO in 2020. She previously led at Parks Canada and Sépaq, where she helped launch Canada’s first urban national park and expand Quebec’s protected areas.
Michael Paskewitz — Chief of Staff & Corporate Secretary, Ontario
Michael Paskewitz supports NCC’s President and Board as Chief of Staff and Corporate Secretary. With 15 years in nonprofit management, he brings expertise in governance, public affairs, and global communications.

Arlene Strom — Alberta
Arlene Strom is a lawyer and sustainability leader, known for her work as Suncor’s Chief Sustainability Officer. She brings a strong background in governance, reconciliation, and energy-sector transformation to NCC.
Barry Worbets — Alberta
Barry Worbets spent over four decades working at the intersection of the environment and business. He has a deep understanding of land and water, history, science, policy and stewardship in Canada.
Frédéric Cotnoir - Quebec
Frédéric Cotnoir is Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Intact, overseeing legal, compliance, and corporate affairs. A former McCarthy Tétrault partner, he brings deep expertise in governance, finance, and ESG strategy.
Karly Healey — Ontario
Karly Healey is the chief financial officer and head of operations at Cormark Securities Inc., a leading independent investment dealer. Karly is a graduate of the honours in Business Administration program from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
Karen Henders — Saskachewan
Karen Henders is a consultant in the non-profit and charitable sector, with a focus on strategy, and innovation. She brings to this role her experience as entrepreneur and business coach; as manager of provincial funding programs in support of the creative industries and arts and culture organizations in Saskatchewan; and as director of community foundation programs to strengthen the charitable sector and encourage philanthropy.
Karen Teresa Hamberg — British Columbia
Ms. Hamberg is a partner and National Clean Technology Lead at Deloitte Canada where she advises on the commercialization of climate technology at industrial scale.
Lydia Courteoreille — Alberta
Lydia Courteoreille develops leadership programs for Indigenous leaders. With 26 years in health and safety management, she also serves as a Mikisew Cree councillor and co-founded a land-based healing camp.
Michael Crothers — Alberta
Michael Crothers spent 33 years at Shell, where he helped relinquish company lands that formed the Arctic’s largest protected area. As NCC’s Alberta Board Chair, he combines corporate and conservation leadership.
Michael Walker — Manitoba
Michael Walker is a retired Legal Aid lawyer and former law instructor. A canoeist and nature enthusiast, he joined NCC’s National Board after years of service on its Manitoba Advisory Board.
Natalie Brown — Quebec
Natalie Brown, Chief Legal Officer at Fonds de solidarité FTQ, combines deep expertise in governance and financial markets with a strong commitment to sustainability. A seasoned legal professional and manager, Natalie has studied biology at McGill University, law at Université de Montréal, financial markets at London School of Economics and corporate sustainability at Harvard. Her career reflects a steadfast dedication to integrating ESG principles into corporate strategy and advancing projects that foster a more resilient and equitable future.
Neil Hardy — Newfoundland and Labrador
Retired Altus Group regional manager Neil Hardy combines decades of real estate experience with a passion for hiking and protecting Atlantic Canada’s wilderness for future generations.
Patricia (Pat) Koval — Ontario
Pat Koval is a corporate director and lawyer who has led multiple conservation organizations, including WWF Canada. She’s passionate about turtle conservation, climate governance, and advancing biodiversity through board leadership.
Sanjay Dhawan — Ontario
Sanjay Dhawan is a seasoned finance executive and CFO at large, guiding startups, scale-ups, and established firms through growth, transformation, and governance with deep expertise in strategy, risk, and operations.
Tamar Pichette — Quebec
Tamar Pichette is a lawyer and governance leader who helped establish the Kenauk conservation area in Quebec. Now based in London, she continues to champion conservation across Canada and internationally.
Wayne King — Ontario
Wayne King built his career in the tech industry, founding InfoMedia Systems Group. With a background in math and business, he’s an avid outdoorsman and motorcyclist committed to NCC’s vision.
