Our Impact
In the past several years, our supporters have helped the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to increase the pace of conservation, especially in large landscape projects from coast to coast to coast. Thank you.
In fact, through partnership, NCC has increased the pace of conservation and we are now looking to double our impact.
By the numbers
1962
The year that NCC is born, with a mission to take direct, private action to protect natural spaces and promote conservation.
Since 1962, NCC has contributed to the conservation of 20M hectares, coast to coast to coast. This is about three times the size of New Brunswick, or more than 31 million NHL hockey rinks.
What counts?
We measure direct conservation achievements (lands acquired, conserved and under stewardship), and where our NCC played a direct and enabling role in completing partner-led projects, as agreed upon with our partners.
256
The number of species at risk* taxa** that occur on NCC-owned properties (about one-third of Canada's terrestrial and freshwater species).
* Species at risk includes COSEWIC-assessed and SARA-listed taxa (does not include data deficient or species listed as "not at risk"). COSEWIC — Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. SARA — Species at Risk Act.
** Species, sub species, populations.

Great Place to Work®
NCC is proud to announce that we have been certified as a Great Place to Work® from 2017-2025, after a thorough and independent analysis conducted by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada each year. This certification is based on direct feedback from employees, provided as part of an extensive and anonymous survey about the workplace experience.
